How will children get food they need this summer?

Last week was hard for me. In the midst of the great work we are doing, I’ve been kept awake at night worried about this summer.

Food insecurity among children will increase this summer due to the continued effects of COVID-19. Sadly, expected funding constraints would result in The Sheridan Story being forced to decrease meals we provide from 100,000 to only 7,500 meals a week.

I keep thinking – How will children get the food they need? How will they know where their next meal is coming from? Who will help?

We have to do something. The fact is we need to raise $1.5 million to keep providing this much food through the summer. This is the number that keeps me up at night.

Thankfully, on Sunday night members and friends of CFA Society of Minnesota and Minnesota Chapter of the CMT Association committed to matching $500,000!

They have stepped up to help make sure the children we serve continue to get the food they need. They are matching every donation, dollar for dollar, up to $500,000! For every $100 you give, combined with the match, The Sheridan Story will be able to provide food to 50 more children that need it this summer.

Reaching this match will be a crucial step towards continuing 100,000 meals a week this summer. Your gift will directly serve the children – please make this important contribution today.

Given this exciting news, I’m now feeling very hopeful! With your partnership, we can ensure the children of our community are supported and nourished.
