The Sheridan Story to Launch at Risen Christ Catholic School
Risen Christ Catholic School is a private elementary school in South Minneapolis. Many may think that there aren’t kids at private schools who are living in food insecurity. Unfortunately, that’s not the case. Almost all the students at Risen Christ are able to attend the school due to financial scholarships, and 95% of Risen Christ students live below the poverty line.
Risen Christ enjoys a unique partnership with Saint Mary’s Health Clinics, (SMHC) a non-profit in St. Paul that provides health care services at no cost to low-income, uninsured individuals living in the Twin Cities Metropolitan area. SMHC received a Healthy Behaviors grant from The Greater Twin Cities United Way to establish a health, wellness and nutrition program, known as E3 (Eat, Exercise, Educate) for Risen Christ’s students, and it now includes The Sheridan Story’s weekend food program.
Launching in March, Saint Mary’s Health Clinics will provide some 100 kids at Risen Christ with a bag of food each weekend. We’re excited about the positive impact this partnership will bring to our community!
